I hide behind naked drunkenness;
Intoxicated by meaningless phrases.
I could’ve discovered a universe;
Instead I embraced its metaphor,
Succumbing to the taste of sweet wine,
Losing myself under the thunderous pounding
Of liquid; beneath a flow of words.
Still, I have found a measure of eternity
In a flicker of lightning, a serrated, stabbing flash;
Breaking your skin with a whisper.
