Entropy

I am the emptiness between stars—
I am the long nothing.

I am negative infinity; that shadowed hollow.
I am unspecified space where the body is not;
Formless thought on an endless journey.
I am approach without a destination.

I am the voided moon, when time stops breathing.
I am a black hole and I unmake myself.

I’ve become the eclipsed ending, the collapsed sun,
The husk that has swallowed the fire, extinguishing it.
I dwell where darkness is deepest, close to the light.
But gravity bends it away, and illumination remains unreachable.

I am beyond the event horizon.
I cannot evade myself.
